Digital Reasoning, a leading provider of big data analytics solutions, is pleased to announce that its CEO, Tim Estes, will deliver a keynote speech at the upcoming O’Reilly Strata Conference to discuss the applications of big data and the opportunity to improve the human condition.
Estes’ keynote presentation, “Bringing the ‘So What’ to Big Data,” will take place Wednesday, October 24 at 10 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton New York. Estes will highlight the need to move beyond big data infrastructure to focus on a real, prioritized comprehension of the information that is morally and practically useful.
“The big data community has grown rapidly in recent years and the technical applications of big data infrastructure have become a major talking point in the enterprise.”, said Estes. “I see a need and an opportunity to focus the conversation more on understanding the information and applying it in ways that can reduce suffering and help society as a whole.”
For over a decade, Digital Reasoning has provided analytic components and services to the U.S. intelligence and national security community, using advanced analytics technology to deliver automated understanding of data and uncover connections and relationships hidden within. This experience positions Digital Reasoning to lead the next wave of big data analytics – one that focuses more on the insights obtained and its ability to enhance healthcare, prevent crime, protect lives and improve the human condition.
“Big data has been massively hyped for years, and we think it’s time to turn the conversation from ‘What does it mean?’ to ‘What do you do with it?’” said Estes. “A lot of people get into this industry because they are interested in the technology itself. They love programming. They love the feeling of discovering something new. But I believe we can take this a step further and use big data to affect the world in a positive way.”
The O’Reilly Strata Conference + Hadoop World will take place Oct. 23 through 25 at the Hilton New York and Sheraton New York Towers. For more information, visit http://strataconf.com/stratany2012/
